There are several memorials to the those who lost their lives  serving their country in the Second and First World Wars. The cemetery is a Commonwealth War Grave and contains 152 graves from the Great War and 223 from the Second World War. Most of the dead from WW1 would be buried near where they fell in Belgium and France.
Over 750,000 British armed forces members lost their lives in the Great War.
Contained within the cemetery grounds is a memorial to the 65 miners who lost their lives in the Great War from the nearby Preston Colliery.
This memorial was erected in 1924.
Also laid to rest in the cemetery are some of those lost their lives in one of the biggest civilian tragedies of WW2 when a German bomb hit an air raid shelter btween 3/4 of May 1941 when 107 people were killed.
