Shepherd Offshore Tyneside

Shepherd Offshore, Tyneside.

Shepherd offshore is one of the major employers on Tyneside, thousands of skilled workers are based at various companies who use the Shepherd Offshore site which covers over two miles in length.
Following the decline in shipbuilding in this area in what used to be the Walker Naval shipyard, the offshore yard was created to replace the old industry.
One of the Hammerhead cranes on the site is among the biggest in the UK with a 325 ton capacity and was built in 1930.
Engineering businesses service the offshore industry in the North Sea and elsewhere in the world.
The site is divided into the Neptune energy park and the Offshore technology park.
