The Tyne Bridge

The Tyne Bridge.

The Tyne Bridge connects Gateshead and Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The bridge was opened in 1928 by King George V.
It was designed by Mott, Hay and Anderson who later designed the Forth road bridge.
The bridge was built by Dorman Long & Co of Middlesbrough.
To many people the Tyne Bridge is the iconic image of Tyneside.
The Wylam railway bridge further along the river Tyne is said to have been used as a template for the Tyne bridge.
