Wylam Railway Bridge

Wylam Railway Bridge

The Wylam railway bridge was originally built to connect North Wylam to the Newcastle to Carlisle rail route in 1876.
It was closed as a railway bridge in 1968 during the Beeching rail cuts.
Today it is used as a pedestrian and cycle bridge.
The design of the bridge was used as a template for the Sydney Harbour and Tyne bridges.
